Fossilized Coral Stone Bowl
Approx Size: 4-5 inches
Fossilized coral, also known as petrified coral, is a type of rock formed from ancient coral reefs that have been mineralized over time. Coral is made up of small animals called polyps that secrete a hard skeleton made of calcium carbonate. When these polyps die, their skeletons remain and can accumulate over time to form large coral reefs.
In the case of fossilized coral, over millions of years, the original coral skeleton has been replaced by minerals such as silica, iron oxide, or calcium carbonate, which have filled in the spaces left by the decaying coral.
You will receive a specimen that looks similar to the ones in the photos.
